PSL 2023 Table Topper Multan Sultans

Multan has won straight four games after losing the first game against Lahore Qalandars this season. Multan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan is in form of his life. He smashed his first-ever PSL century against Karachi Kings. He has amassed staggering 329 runs in just five games with a spectacular average of 109.67 and he made these runs with a pretty good strike rate of 144.30.

Another Multan Sultans batsman Rilee Rossouw takes the second spot in the run-scoring table by scoring 218 runs with an average of 72.66 and a strike rate of 168.99.

In addition, with a batsman, Multan’s three bowlers occupied the top three places in the wickets-takers chart. Ihsanullah bagged 12 wickets in five games with Abbas Afridi (10 wickets) and Usama Mir (9 wickets) following him to the table.

Considering the dominance of Multan players in PSL 2023, It will be no surprise if Multan bagged a trophy this year.

Islamabad United

Islamabad United have played four games till now in PSL 2023 and won three of them. They have to perform well in the next few games to book their seat in the playoffs. They have some good players on their team like Colin Munro, Rassie van der Dussen, and Shadab Khan

Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandar is the only team who defeated Multan Sultans this season and the former are placed in the third position in the points table with three wins in four games. Lahore played only four games till now so they have a good opportunity to displace table toppers from their position in upcoming games. Lahore’s Shaheen Shah Afridi is in the top five wicket-takers in the PSL 2023 with five wickets in the three games.

Peshawar Zalmi

Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi is not much behind Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars in the points table. They won two games out of the five they played. Babar Azam and batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore are in fine form. It will be important that they carry their form in the remaining games to help Peshawar reach the top of the table.

Karachi Kings

Karachi has won only two game out of six in this season of PSL. They were outshined by other teams and suffered straight three losses. Their batsman Imad Wasim and James Vince are in good form. Still, it will be difficult for them to reach the playoffs as they have a lot of ground to cover.

Quetta Gladiators

Quetta have played five games till now and lost four to them. Due to courtesy of these losses, they are at bottom of the points table. They require to win the next few games to stake their claim on a playoff spot.

Thus, as we can gauge from the performance of all six teams this season of the PSL, Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, and Islamabad United are front runners for the PSL 2023 playoff spots. We can see one of them lift the PSL trophy this year, however, it will be too early to conclude anything.
