Updated WTC 2025-27 Points Table After IND vs ENG 1st Test. England is at the top of the World Test Championship 2025-27 standings after a hard-fought victory over India in the 1st Test at Headingley. Chasing 371, England completed the game within five days, thanks to Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, and Jamie Smith with the bat, all while Jasprit Bumrah and his fellow bowlers gave a superb effort.

The successful first outing for England (12 points, 100% PCT) has seen them on top of the World Test Championship standings, followed by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh after their drawn Test in Galle. India’s batting performance will be shadowed, however, as they leave Leeds with nothing.

KL Rahul scored 137, Rishabh Pant had twin hundreds (118), and a solid team effort from the Indian bowlers was their performance that contributed to the demanding target of 371. Duckett (149) and Crawley (65) allowed England to be in a safe position at 117/0 at lunch, with Duckett extraordinarily unbeaten on 149.

As wickets fell through the mid-innings, England settled their chase with Ian Root (53) and Jamie Smith showing patience (36*). With just 6 runs left to win, the Headingley scoreboard didn’t lie for England—365/5—delivering a memorable five-wicket win.

After England’s convincing win, momentum is fully theirs, as the next Test shifts grounds to Edgbaston (July 2-6). Indian pace bowlers will have to strategically regroup very quickly and have more options in the bowling department if they are to contend for their place in the WTC table.
