Rusty Theron Accuses Haris Rauf Of Ball Tampering During USA vs PAK T20 World Cup 2024 Match. Rusty Theron, a retired South African cricket player who is currently representing the USA cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2024, has claimed that Haris Rauf—a pace bowler from Pakistan tampered with the ball when they played at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas during the T20 World Cup. Theron made this allegation just before Pakistan’s crushing defeat to co-hosts in a Group A match, which ended up being decided through a Super Over.

Starting the 13th over, Pakistan unexpectedly swapped the ball for a new one. The U.S. team was still going strong as their captain, Monank Patel used this to his advantage. During that same over, Patel hit Shaheen Afridi for a six and a four in successive deliveries. Haris took out Andries Gous in the following over off the first ball bowled which seemed like it had just started reversing when it hit off-topstump.

Following his firing, Theron vented his fury against the ICC on X (formerly known as Twitter) by alleging that Haris had intentionally scuffed the modified ball with his fingernail to induce reverse swing.

@ICC are we just going to pretend Pakistan isn’t scratching the hell out of this freshly changed ball? Reversing the ball that’s just been changed 2 overs ago? You can see Harris Rauf running his thumbnail over the ball at the top of his mark. @usacricket #PakvsUSA

The ICC has not released any statement yet. The final over was very exciting because the American batters made 14 runs to tie the game. Haris’ two expensive mistakes spoiled Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir’s great bowling when they were aiming at accurate yorkers despite taking a wicket. Aaron Jones hit Haris for a six over cow corner, and then Nitish Kumar scored four runs on the last delivery.

Amir’s performance in the Super Over was a frightful sight as Pakistan conceded 18 runs; 7 of which were extras. Three wides and sloppy fielding characterized the careless play. On the other hand, the USA recorded their largest-ever international victory when Iftikhar Ahmed fell to Saurabh Netravalkar’s bowling
