No Vijay Hazare Trophy Matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium Due to Security Concerns. Bengaluru will not host Vijay Hazare Trophy matches at the famous Chinnaswamy Stadium this season. The decision follows serious security concerns raised by city authorities. The Karnataka State Cricket Association was asked to shift all fixtures immediately. Matches scheduled at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium have now been relocated.
All Vijay Hazare Trophy games in Bengaluru will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Officials believe the new venue offers tighter security and better crowd control. The move follows a tragic incident earlier this year near the stadium. Authorities have since reviewed safety arrangements for large public gatherings. They concluded stadium is not ready to host matches with crowds currently.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is India’s premier domestic one-day competition. Several top domestic teams and star players are part of the tournament. Fans in Bengaluru were excited about high-profile matches this season. There was strong buzz about Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant returning to domestic cricket. However, supporters will miss watching him play at Chinnaswamy.
The KSCA held discussions with state officials over the past week. They even suggested hosting matches without spectators. The proposal was rejected after final security assessments. Officials stressed that public safety remains the top priority. They assured that cricket will continue smoothly at alternate venues.
