No PSL in UAE: ECB Unlikely to Approve Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions. As the matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) were to be relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after a drone attack near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. A source close to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that the board is unlikely to approve PSL 2025 matches being held in the UAE due to increasing tensions between India and Pakistan.

After India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the attitudes of the international boards became increasingly negative. The drone incident dashed any thoughts of hosting the PSL match in Rawalpindi because of security concerns.

UAE has served as a neutral venue for international cricket matches in the past, including hosting the PSL 2025 during its earlier seasons and the COVID-19 pandemic. The current scenario poses a whole new set of challenges on its own. Being close to the zones where the conflict is taking place might be risky for holding such high-profile matches during these particular times. So the ECB is now looking towards reconsidering its current position.

The PCB has now turned to other prospective venues as it attempts to ensure the safety of players and officials. Discussions are continuing with different cricket boards. The aim is now to find venues available to stage the remaining matches of the PSL under security. The PCB has been focused on its commitment to separating sports from politics, and the PSL must continue. However, it appreciates player safety and will take every measure to address the situation.
