They managed just 13 runs for 6 wickets in the first six overs. The run rate dropped to 2.17, showing complete batting failure. This score is now the lowest Powerplay total ever recorded in the IPL.

Record books rewritten
Delhi equalled the record for most wickets lost in a Powerplay in a full IPL match. Six wickets had previously fallen for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. However, Delhi’s 13/6 is the lowest total among such collapses. This innings now tops the list of lowest powerplay scores:
- Delhi Capitals posted 13/6 against RCB in Delhi in 2026.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 14/3 against Rajasthan Royals in 2022.
- Rajasthan Royals made 14/2 against RCB in Cape Town in 2009.
- Chennai Super Kings scored 15/2 against KKR in Kolkata in 2011.
RCB pacers dominate early
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood led the destruction with the new ball. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3 wickets for just 5 runs. Josh Hazlewood claimed 3 wickets for only 8 runs. Delhi lost five wickets in just 16 balls during the collapse. The batters struggled against swing and disciplined bowling lines. Rasikh Salam joined the attack and struck an important blow. He dismissed David Miller for 19 runs from 18 balls. Delhi Capitals slipped to 43 for 7 in nine overs. The innings looked completely out of control at that stage.

Close to lowest IPL total
Delhi came dangerously close to the lowest IPL total of 49 runs. At 43 for 7, the possibility of another unwanted record looked real. A similar collapse had happened earlier to RCB in another match.
