IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Appoint Mo Bobat As Director Of Cricket: Mo Bobat, the Performance Director of the England Cricket Board, has been named as the Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL 2024. Bobat has been with the ECB for 12 years and has been their performance director since 2019.

The 40-year-old has been instrumental in establishing England’s innovative style, which has seen them dominate opponents, win the T20I and ODI World Cups, and give a spectacular Ashes performance.

Mo Bobat has been in charge of identifying, developing, and preparing England’s large pool of players across all formats. He will supervise all talent recruiting and performance initiatives at RCB, with the goal of establishing the cultural and high-performance foundations for long-term success.

During his term as Performance Director, the England men were named double global champions, winning both the ICC Men’s Global Cup and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Bobat formerly supervised England’s Men’s Under-19s programme until 2016, when he was appointed as the ECB’s first Player Identification Lead.

Bobat and England’s newly hired head coach, Andy Flower, have previously collaborated. Bobat has been in charge of identifying, developing, and preparing England’s large pool of players across all formats. He will supervise all talent recruiting and performance initiatives at RCB, with the goal of establishing the cultural and high-performance foundations for long-term success.

Bobat, who will remain at the ECB until February next year, said, “I’ve had the most amazing 12 years at the ECB, and it’s been both an honour and a privilege to have spent the last four years as Performance Director.” Supporting our efforts in successive Ashes and World Cup campaigns has been legendary.

RCB reached the play-offs in 2021 and 2022 under the former coaching staff of Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, but lost out in 2023. Meanwhile, Flower has been the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants since their inception in 2022.
