IPL 2024 KKR vs RCB: Virat Kohli Fined 50% of Match Fee For Breaching IPL Code of Conduct. Virat Kohli was fined half of his match fees for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s close loss to Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. The IPL stated that Kohli, the RCB batter, was penalized for his actions during the match held on April 21, 2024.

“Kohli was found guilty of a Level 1 offence according to Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He acknowledged the wrongdoing and agreed with the Match Referee’s punishment. The Match referee’s decision for Level 1 violations is considered final and must be accepted,” the statement further stated.

Kohli got mad when the new ball tracking technology said he was out on a full toss delivery that he thought was too high. He had scored 18 runs in just 7 balls. Kohli tried to hit Harshit Rana’s high full toss but hit it back to the bowler, who caught it. The umpire checked if the ball was too high for a legal delivery.

When Kohli hit the ball, it was at his waist, but the tracking system showed it dropping before reaching the crease. They compared the estimated height of the ball at the crease to Kohli’s waist height. The ball’s projected height was lower than Kohli’s waist, so the third umpire ruled him out. Kohli didn’t like the decision and told the on-field umpire before leaving.

“At that moment, Virat and I both thought the ball might have been higher than his waist,” said Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis, who was standing at the non-striker’s end. “In these situations, one team might be happy with the decision while the other may not agree. But that’s just how the game is sometimes.”

Bangalore finds themselves at the bottom of the IPL table after losing six matches in a row. They are set to visit Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.
