The auction for the upcoming IPL 2024 is scheduled for December 19 in Dubai. While the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has previously hosted the IPL in 2014, 2020, and 2021, this marks the first time the players’ auction will be conducted outside India. Notably, the tournament was also held in South Africa in 2009. Surprisingly, this is their first time having an IPL auction in a different country.

For the 2024 season, each of the 10 teams will boast a purse of Rs 100 crore, reflecting a Rs 5 crore increment from the previous year. The Women’s Premier League auction is slated for December 9 at the same venue. In anticipation of this event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has mandated that each team provide their roster of released and retained players by November 26th. Now, let’s explore the specifics of the players retained and released by the Punjab Kings.

Travis Head, Mujeeb Zadran, Harry Brook, Kuldeep Sen, Ben Strokes.

Punjab Kings, with the highest purse, have the flexibility to acquire their preferred players, much like their successful acquisition of Sam Curran last year. In the upcoming auction, PBKS aims to secure impactful players capable of steering the team to victory in challenging situations. Addressing the primary concern from IPL 2023, which was the lack of batters who could accelerate in both the initial and middle overs, PBKS may consider bidding for Harry Brook. Additionally, Travis Head, a dangerous batsman, Ben Stokes a potential game-changing player, and Rovman Powell might be part of PBKS’ strategy for the upcoming auction.
