IPL 2024 Auction: Delhi Capitals Retained Prithvi Shaw. Delhi Capitals have chosen to keep Prithvi Shaw, the victorious captain of India’s Under-19 World Cup team, in their lineup for the upcoming IPL auctions 2024. Despite a challenging performance in the 2023 IPL season, he accumulated only 106 runs in eight matches with an average of 13.25. Recently, there has been speculation about Shaw’s potential release by DC. However, the Times Of India received information from a source that the Delhi Capitals had retained him for IPL-2024. The source stated that he had been recovering at the National Cricket Academy and should be fit for the Ranji Trophy.

Shaw, who made his IPL debut in 2018, faced setbacks in 2023 due to a knee injury sustained while playing for Northamptonshire in a one-day championship match against Durham. Consequently, he missed a significant portion of India’s domestic cricket season. However, there is optimism that Shaw will recover in time for IPL 2024, marking a crucial phase in his career. With several of his contemporaries, such as Shubman Gill, making strides in international cricket, the upcoming season represents a pivotal opportunity for Shaw to showcase his prowess and solidify his standing in the cricketing landscape.

The young cricketer has been part of the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) since they bought him in the 2018 IPL auction for Rs 1.2 crores. This 24-year-old player had impressive performances in his first county season, scoring 244 runs off 153 balls and 125 runs. Unfortunately, he got a bad knee injury while fielding, which made him miss the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournaments. Shaw has played in five Tests, six ODIs, and a T20I for India.

In the last Ranji Trophy season, he scored a massive 379 runs against Assam, breaking Sanjay Manjerekar’s record of 377 runs to become the highest run-scorer in a single innings for Mumbai
