Cricket Australia has reported that the public allocation of tickets for the T20 International at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has now sold out, weeks before the event. This record demand has already seen over 175,000 tickets purchased across the ODI and T20I matches, indicating only 30,000 tickets remain available for either the ODI or T20I matches in the eight-match series.
The MCG T20 International will take place on October 31, has already generated tremendous excitement and anticipation, and only tickets for AFL and MCC members remain for sale. Other venues are also confirming immense interest and sales. The SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I have also sold out, while stadiums in Adelaide and Brisbane are nearing the point of capacity for the series.
Cricket Australia’s CEO shared their pleasure in witnessing such unprecedented demand, stating that the attendance “is an indication of the strength of the Australia–India rivalry as well as the strength of the excitement among fans across the country.” Crowds at the India series have been some of the largest historical series crowd figures recorded for Australian cricket, but this year is being described as one of the largest ticket surges or crowds since the 2022 T20 World Cup.
