IND W vs AUS W: Women In Blue Beat Australia In A Historic Test Match For The First Time. The world of women’s cricket is buzzing with excitement in December due to two eagerly awaited one-off Test matches. Initially, India faced off against England at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai from December 14 to 16. After that India women beat Australia for the first time in a historic test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After 15 long years, the India Women ‘s cricket team finally won against rivals Australia in an exciting one-off Test match

Seamer Pooja Vastrakar and off-spinner Sneh Rana effectively utilized a pitch with unpredictable bounce, restricting Australia to a mere 219 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the one-off Test in Mumbai on Thursday.

On Day 2 at the Wankhede Stadium, India’s women’s team further asserted their dominance over Australia, securing a lead of 157 runs in the one-off Test. By the close of play, India had amassed a score of 376/7. Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar remained unbeaten at 70 (from 147 balls) and 33 (from 115 balls) respectively.

After the hosts were dismissed for 406 early on day three, Australian openers Beth Mooney. Phoebe Litchfield forged a 49-run partnership before encountering a setback in the 12th over. On Day 3 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, in reply to India’s first-innings score of 406, Australia reached 233/5 by Stumps in their second innings.

Securing a lead of 46 runs in the ongoing one-off Test match on Saturday. Opener Beth Mooney was out for 33 off 37 deliveries during the pre-lunch session. While her partner, Phoebe Litchfield, was dismissed for 18 off 44 balls. 

On day 4, their innings concluded at 261 runs when Rajeshwari Gayakwad took the final wicket, setting a target of 75 runs for India. Yet, propelled by the Indian Women’s team’s stellar bowling, they showcased their batting strength, securing an 8-wicket victory.

England suffered one of their most significant Test defeats as India dismissed them for 131 in the second innings, clinching victory with a day and a half to spare. India’s winning margin of 347 runs sets a record for the largest victory by runs in a women’s Test, prompting questions about England’s trajectory under Jon Lewis, especially following their disappointing T20 series loss to Sri Lanka in September.

Deepti Sharma added four more wickets to her tally, concluding with outstanding figures of nine for 39 the best by an Indian spinner in women’s Test cricket. Additionally, Pooja Vastrakar took three wickets for 23 runs, including bowling out Nat Sciver-Brunt without scoring, a crucial dismissal.
