IND vs SA 2nd Test In Guwahati

IND vs SA: 2nd Test In Guwahati To Feature Tea Before Lunch Due To Early Sunset. The future Test in India against South Africa in Guwahati will feature players having tea before having lunch, an unprecedented occurrence in the history of Indian Test match cricket. The decision comes based on the unique daylight hours in the city, as sunrise and sunset occur certain hours earlier than they do for most cities across India.

The Barsapara Cricket Stadium, with its scenic morning light and earlier dusk, will host the Test with a start time of 9:00 AM IST. The first session will run until 11:00 AM, followed by a tea break of 20 minutes. The second session will run until 1:20 PM, and then 40 minutes is allotted for the lunch break. The last session will run after lunch from about 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, and stumps will be called around 4 PM before natural light goes.

Why the Change?

The officials for the BCCI and match organisers stated that starting early was to “take full advantage of daylight” and to prevent play from continuing for too long in the later parts of the day, which could cause problems with visibility conditions. Guwahati, as a far-eastern city in India, is subject to sunset almost an hour earlier than the likes of Mumbai or Delhi; hence, the decision came in order for regular duration play.

This change adds a fascinating twist for both players and spectators. Captains may readjust their session plans, whilst those spectators who prefer early starts get to see cricket action from the first ball in the morning session. This could be an innovative scheduling process for future Test matches in countries with similar daylight. The Guwahati Test promises to be not only compelling cricket but also a historic experiment to see how tradition adapts itself to the local geography.
