IND vs ENG 2nd Test, Day 3 Highlights: Siraj’s 6-wicket Haul, India 64/1 At Stumps. Resuming at 29/2 in reply to India’s 587, England’s innings got off to a horrible start. Mohammed Siraj struck right away, taking Joe Root and Ben Stokes out in two balls. England were at 84/5 after early wickets. From that horrible start, Brook and the debutant keeper-batter Smith put together a stunning 303-run partnership for the sixth wicket, upsetting India’s bowlers as well as the English spectators’ sense of impending gloom.
Brook made 158, and Smith was 184 not out, becoming the highest ever scorer against India in the history of England wicketkeepers. Smith also produced one of England’s fastest Test centuries off just 80 balls, showing absolutely no signs of nerves in his maiden series. England scored a total of 407, leaving India with a healthy 180-run lead at the end of the first innings. Both MD Shiraj and Akash Deep picked up good numbers of wickets, with 6 and 4, respectively.
India started their second innings in a sloth-like manner and lost Yashasvi Jaiswal after looking quite solid on 28, falling LBW from a dubious DRS review. At stumps, India 64/1. KL Rahul and Karun Nair at the crease. India extended the overall lead to 244 before losing a wicket.

With just two days left, India is still very much in control of the match but will be looking to score at pace during Day 4 to set up a strong target. England will hope to build on the middle-order fightback and gain some further ground under pressure.
