Harry Brook Becomes World No.1 in ICC Test Rankings; Shubman Gill Enters Top 10. In a current update to the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, English batter Harry Brook has snatched the No. 1 position ahead of his fellow and former captain Joe Root. Brook now leads the rankings with a total of 886 rating points, ahead of Root (868) and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (867).

Brook’s recent consistent form and sparkle in previous outings have propelled him to be the new number one. Joe Root slips to second after leading it for some long periods now. Williamson hangs on to third place.

ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings

India’s influence in the top 10 remains persistent, with Yashasvi Jaiswal holding on to 4th place (858 rating points) after some tremendously successful experiences of late. The most successful player of the two is Shubman Gill, who had the largest jump into 6th position, leaping 15 places with a new career high of 807 rating points on the strength of his double century against England.

Steve Smith remains solid in 5th position (813 rating points); Temba Bavuma (South Africa) is in 7th position (790 rating points); Rishabh Pant (India) is in 8th position (790 rating points); and Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka) is in 9th position (781 rating points).

Another intriguing mover is the talented young England batter Jamie Smith, who breaks into the top 10 for the first time, rising 16 places to take the 10th position with 753 points. This movement reflects the ever-changing generational change in world cricket, as Brook, Jaiswal, Gill, and Smith rise quickly up the ladder.
