Australian test cricket team led by Pat Cummins dethroned team India as the no.1 ICC test team on Friday, January 5. Australia replaced India to reclaim the no.1 Test team crown after beating Pakistan in the ongoing 3-match test series at home while Rohit Sharma-led India registered its first test win at Cape Town on January 4.
The South Africa vs India 2-match test series ended drawn and because of this Australia became the No 1 test team in the latest ICC test team rankings 2024.
The Australian team has been on an exceptional streak, including a series of victories at home against Shan Masood-led Pakistan, which played a crucial role in propelling them back to the top-ranked test team. This also includes their monumental World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 win over India last year in England. The win had helped Australia to secure the No.1 briefly.
