BCCI Threatens to Boycott Asia Cup Over ACC Meeting Venue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent a firm message to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), stating it may boycott the 2025 Asia Cup if the ACC meeting is not changed from Dhaka, Bangladesh, as it is currently scheduled.

The ACC will hold its Annual General Meeting on July 24th. It will be under the leadership of the chairman and current PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. The BCCI and all cricket boards from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Oman strongly disagreed with having Dhaka as the host city. The BCCI cited political relations related to India and Bangladesh and neutrality with a Pakistan-led ACC as reasons for its disapproval.

According to sources, the BCCI has proposed that the meeting be moved to a neutral venue like Dubai. It has also made it clear that no Indian representatives will attend the meeting from Dhaka. The situation has escalated to the point where India’s participation in the Asia Cup itself could also be in doubt if it is not changed.

This disagreement occurs at a bad time for Asian cricket, considering the 2025 Asia Cup is in September in India. A BCCI boycott could affect the tournament’s commercial viability and global relevance, especially at a time when India is a key contributor to cricket revenues in the region.

With no official response from the ACC, the cricketing community now waits for an outcome before July 24.
