Several reports claim that Roman Abramovich (Russian-Israeli billionaire) is preparing to sell the prestigious Football Club Chelsea after the threat of sanctions forces his hand through his association with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Although Roman has yet to be sanctioned by Britain, European Union, or the USA and insists that he hasn’t done anything wrong, the Russian oligarch is fearing potential sanctions due to the invasion of Ukraine.

Russian-Israeli billionaire Abramovich is understood to want to retain his ownership of the Football club Chelsea, but that could effectively prove close to impossible should the British Government impose sanctions on Abramovich, who has owned the west London club since 2003.

Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss claims he has been offered the chance to buy Abramovich’s, Chelsea, as UK parliament hears that Roman is hastily selling his UK properties.

The asking price for Chelsea is said to be $3.5bn (£2.6 billion) which is significantly more than the $400m (£300m) that Roman Abramovich originally bought Chelsea for. The club price will cover the £1.5bn ($2bn) debt that the Russian has pumped into the west Londoners over the last 19 years.
