WPL 2023 UPW Vs DC: Alice Capsey’s All-Round Show Helps Delhi Capitals Qualify For The Final. In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals (DC) faced UP Warriorz (UPW) in the last match of the group stage. Delhi Capitals were ranked in the second position in the WPL points table; whereas UP Warriorz was placed in the third position. By winning this game against Warriorz, the Capitals were eager to book their seat in the WPL final.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and put UP Warriorz batsmen to bat first. Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat opened innings for UP Warriorz. Spinner Radha Yadav sent Sehrawat back to the dugout in the fifth over of the innings. Skipper Healy smashed some attacking strokes, but she was dismissed by Alice Capsey. Healy scored 36 runs off 34 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six.

Tahlia Mcgrath Smashed Her Fourth Fifty In The WPL 2023

UPWarriorz’s batting line-up collapsed in the middle overs. Tahlia McGrath played a valiant knock and kept her team in the game. She remained unbeaten on 58 off 32 balls. Her phenomenal knock was studded with eight boundaries and two towering sixes.

Her stellar knock helped Warriorz to put 138 on board in 20 overs while losing six wickets. Capitals all-rounder Alice Capsey bagged three wickets while conceding 26 runs in her quota of four overs.

Alice Capsey And Marizanne Kapp Helped Delhi Capitals Defeat Warriorz

Delhi Capitals opener Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma provided a solid start for team. Lanning smashed three fours and one six in the first over of the innings to amas 20 runs. Both batsmen added 56 runs in 4.4 overs.

Medium pacer Soppadhandi Yashasri gave the first breakthrough to her team on her WPL debut by dismissing Shafali for 21. Proteas pacer Shabnim Ismail removed Jemimaj Rodrigues and Lanning in an over to give some hope to Warriorz. Lanning made 39 runs off 23 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.

Next batsmen Capsey and Marizanne Kapp added 60 runs for the fourth wicket. This partnership proved crucial for Delhi Capitals while chasing the target. Capitals defeated Warriorz by five wickets. Kapp remained unbeaten on 34 off 31 balls; whereas Capsey scored 34 runs off 31 with the help of four boundaries and one six. With this win, Delhi Capitals climbed to the top of the points table and qualified for the WPL 2023 final.
