SRH Might Release These Five Players Before IPL 2026 Auction. Pat Cummins-led SRH embarked on a challenging journey for IPL 2025, confronting difficult decisions about player retention for the upcoming season. After some flashes of brilliance, many of the big-name players struggled, were inconsistent, or were unavailable due to injury. Following a look back at the campaign and their situations from the 2025 season, here are five players we expect SRH to release ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
1. Mohammed Shami
The SRH marquee signing, Mohammed Shami, had a season to forget in 2025. The veteran fast bowler played in 9 matches, took 6 wickets, and had an incredibly poor average of 56.2 and an alarming economy rate of 11.2. Throughout the 2025 campaign, he struggled to contain batters, particularly at the death. This led to blowouts and determining matches (one spell was a record of 0/75) when these games were very close. Notably, with Shami’s age not helping matters and his form is dipping rapidly. It is feasible that SRH will acquire younger and more effective pacers and ultimately move on from Shami before the IPL 2026 auction.

2. Adam Zampa
Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa had negligible involvement with SRH in IPL 2025. He played just two matches, with figures of 1/46 and 1/48 in the 2025 IPL season. He struggled to maintain his spot in the XI consistently due primarily to SRH’s playing combinations, along with conditions that don’t lend themselves towards spin. Because of the slim impact made and SRH’s overseas quota restrictions, Zampa will likely be among the first names released in the IPL 2026 auction.
3. Brydon Carse
English speedster Brydon Carse, originally signed by SRH as a pace-bowling all-rounder, didn’t even get to play in IPL 2025 due to a toe injury. He was replaced mid-season by Wiaan Mulder, not long after Carse was injured. Carse has raw pace and potential to use moving forward. While it is unfortunate he got injured and was unavailable all season, his future with SRH is in serious jeopardy. They may look to replace him with a more durable and proven overseas all-rounder for IPL 2026.
4. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan did smash 94 not out off just 48 balls against RCB, leading SRH to a whopping total of 231, but he had very inconsistent form with scores of 0, 1, 2, and 9 and only a few other significant contributions for the remainder of the tournament. While it is nice to have explosive players like Kishan, the inconsistency and ultimately high price tag may push SRH to consider more dependable options at the top of the order or wicketkeeper-batters in next season’s auction.

5. Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy, the teenage all-rounder from India, came away with a disappointing 2025 for SRH. In 13 games, Reddy made only 182 runs in 11 innings, for an average of 22.75 and a top score of just 32. While Reddy posted a strike rate of 118.95, he was never able to produce a significant innings. The same sentiment was felt in his bowling; he only took 2 wickets in 5 overs at an expensive 9.40 economy rate. Fitness concerns cut into Reddy’s overs—an issue even coach Daniel Vettori mentioned in late May, which compounded SRH’s decision to use a valuable spot at auction on a player that had limited exposure or return.
