Ruturaj Gaikwad Withdraws From Yorkshire County Cricket Club Due to Personal Reasons. Yorkshire County Cricket Club has stated that Ruturaj Gaikwad has backed out of his County Championship contract for personal reasons, less than a week before his debut against Surrey at Scarborough.

Gaikwad was with Yorkshire for the last five games of the 2025 County Championship season. He signed with the club one month ago as a big addition to their batting order. Yorkshire head coach Anthony McGrath has commented on Gaikwad’s late decision to inform the club that he would not be making his way to Yorkshire. This left the club with difficulty finding a replacement.

Gaikwad’s withdrawal is a huge loss for Yorkshire. They were relying on his experience and current good form to help stabilize their top order. CSK opener missed IPL 2025 because of his elbow injury. Gaikwad’s tour of England was also set to serve as preparation for India’s upcoming domestic red-ball season, including the Ranji Trophy.

The timing of the decision has been difficult for Yorkshire, as they are playing Surrey in less than three days. Yorkshire is now actively looking for a last-minute replacement to fill the gap.

Without more information released, the cricket world awaits clarification on Gaikwad’s position as Yorkshire alters plans for the rest of the season.
