Ravichandran Ashwin Registers for ILT20 Auction. After confirming his retirement from the IPL and international cricket earlier in the week, former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is now officially available at the International League T20 (ILT20) auction. This will be his first steps in overseas franchise cricket. The 38-year-old spinner, whose international and IPL career ended on August 27, is now seeking to continue his playing journey in T20 leagues globally.

ILT20 Moves to Auction Format

The ILT20 has shifted from a draft system to an auction this edition in 2025. This opens up new opportunities for a prominent name like Ashwin, who still has demand in the shortest format. Only three Indians in the competition have been so far: Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan, and Ambati Rayudu.

The ILT20 auction is set for September 30, and franchises will be allowed one marquee signing outside the salary cap. As a player, Ashwin is likely to be sought after because of his experience and strategy. It is being reported that Ashwin is also looking into potential opportunities in the USA’s Major League Cricket or The Hundred in England, with a longer-term goal of balancing playing and coaching responsibilities.

Ashwin’s decision, at the age of 38, reinforces a trend in which more experienced players continue their careers while associated with global franchise leagues. His potential participation in the ILT20 would contribute to a stronger competition by bringing in one of India’s most successful modern-day cricketers in a new context.
