Karnataka All-Rounder Krishnappa Gowtham Retires from All Formats of Cricket. Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The experienced off-spinner and hard-hitting batter confirmed the decision on Monday. Gowtham ends a professional career that lasted nearly 14 years in Indian cricket. He represented Karnataka with pride across the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Gowtham made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2012. He quickly became known for economical off-spin and powerful lower-order batting. Gowtham played a key role in Karnataka’s successful domestic campaigns over the years. He delivered many match-winning spells and valuable cameos in pressure situations.

The all-rounder also fulfilled his dream of playing for India. He made his international debut in 2021 against Sri Lanka in an ODI. Gowtham picked up one wicket in international cricket during that appearance. Though chances were limited, the India cap remained a proud career moment.

Krishnappa Gowtham was bought by CSK foe 9.25 crores

In the Indian Premier League, Gowtham enjoyed a memorable journey. He played for the Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, CSK, and Lucknow Super Giants. His biggest IPL moment came during the 2021 auction. Chennai Super Kings bought him for ₹9.25 crore as an uncapped player.

That deal made him the most expensive uncapped Indian at the auction. Gowtham impressed with his fearless batting and useful off-spin in T20 cricket. One unforgettable highlight came in the 2019 Karnataka Premier League. He smashed 134 runs and claimed eight wickets in the same match.

Gowtham last played competitive cricket during the 2024 domestic and IPL seasons. He thanked teammates, coaches, KSCA, and fans for constant support.
