IPL 2025: CSK Sign Urvil Patel as Replacement for Injured Vansh Bedi. CSK has signed an aggressive wicketkeeper-batter from Gujarat, Urvil Patel, as a replacement for Vansh Bedi. Vansh is now out for the remainder of IPL 2025 due to injury. Bedi was a promising child talent who has now been ruled out after a ligament tear in his left ankle. This injury has forced the franchise to once again undergo a late reshuffle of its squad.
Urvil Patel, 26, is best known for equalling the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy record. He scored a 28-ball century, the joint-fastest century in T20s for an Indian. This blistering century shot came against Tripura in November 2024.
The right-hander is an aggressive batter of nearly 1,100 runs in 47 domestic T20s at a strike rate deserving of mention. The CSK middle order, well-known for its fearlessness, welcomes such aggression from its hitters now that the franchise is out of contention for the playoffs this season. Thus, he is slated to gain some good game time from the remaining fixtures.
Urvil was part of the Gujarat Titans setup in the 2023 IPL season. But never really got a consistent run out there. Having picked him up at his base price of ₹30 lakh, CSK has made a shrewd investment in a budding Indian talent.

The next fixture for Chennai Super Kings is on May 7 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Urvil should be available for selection. His inclusion will add fire to the CSK batting unit and will offer him a big stage to prove his IPL credentials.
