Dhruv Jurel Smashes Maiden Test Century, Jadeja Registers Sixth Ton. It was a stunning day with the bat at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Dhruv Jurel made his international debut with an impressive first Test hundred, and seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored his sixth Test hundred, the second against the West Indies. Their innings put India in a strong position to win at the end of Day 2 of the first Test.
Jurel’s First International Moment of Glory
Wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel, under pressure at No. 5, played beyond his years. He made an impressive 125 runs from 190 balls, becoming only the fifth Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test hundred. His hundred was made with crystalline strokeplay and composure, and with an emotional salute celebration for his father, a retired Army Havildar and Kargil War veteran. Jurel’s innings gave India stability and made the West Indies bowlers work hard.
Jadeja continues his golden run
At the other end, Ravindra Jadeja further established his reputation as a reliable all-rounder. The left-handed batter scored an unbroken 104, reaching three figures with his trademark sword celebration. This marked his sixth Test hundred and second against the West Indies. Together with Jurel, Jadeja partnered for a very significant 206-run fifth-wicket partnership, ending the day’s play at 448/5—a lead of 286 runs.
Earlier in the day, KL Rahul also contributed a century, ensuring that India’s top and middle orders prospered on a flat batting wicket. For the West Indies, Pierre managed to bend an arm and dismiss Jurel, but overall, the West Indies struggled to find breakthroughs with their bowlers.

With Jadeja still at the crease and Washington Sundar joining him, if we thought India was in total control, it certainly looks even more so now. It is going to be a big task for the West Indies to get back into this contest here—India will be looking to get a big lead in the first innings.
