IND vs SA 2nd Test, Day 3 Highlights: Proteas Lead By 314 Runs in Guwahati. On Day 3 of the second Test in Guwahati, South Africa strengthened their position of dominance as India faced defeat and a potential series whitewash. After setting a hefty first innings total of 489, the visitors skittled India for a meagre 201 and ended the day at 26/0 in the second innings, with an aggregate lead of 314 runs and two days to go.

Indian batting collapse

India resumed the morning hoping to make repairs, but their batting fell apart against a relentless South African discipline. The only performance of note as the top order fell apart was 58 from Jaiswal off 97 balls. The middle phase brought more concerns as India slipped to 122/7, with nothing to counter the relentless momentum or create any partnerships.

The only ray of hope was through Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav, who showed a degree of grit and character as they constructed an eighth-wicket stand of 72. Sundar’s experience showed off as he scored an important 48 off 92 balls, while Kuldeep flipped his bat around 134 times for 19 frustrating runs. However, the innings quickly collapsed as soon as the partnership broke down, leading to India’s bowling out in just 83.5 overs.

South Africa’s bowling brilliance

Marco Jansen was the standout bowler of the innings, completing an impressive spell of fast bowling, taking 6 for 48. Jansen’s steep bounce, precision, and penchant for taking wickets at pivotal points dismantled India’s order. Simon Harmer chipped in nicely as an off-spinner, taking 3 for 64 while creating pressure at the other end.

With a big lead already secured, South Africa’s openers saw off the remaining overs without loss, scoring 26. Their controlled but watchful approach continued to indicate the visitors’ dominance.
