IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 1 Highlights: Root At 99, England 251/4 At Stumps. The opening day of the third Test in London was tightly fought as India clawed their way back after Joe Root’s resilient knock had guided England to 237/4 at stumps. England won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that offered early seam movement.

Both Bumrah and Siraj maintained tight lines and lengths early on. Nitish Reddy, on debut, took two wickets, both England openers—Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley—before lunch. Reddy’s twin strikes left England at 44/2.

Root then took charge of the English comeback, sharing a crucial 100-run partnership with Ollie Pope. In sublime touch, Root reached his 67th Test fifty and became the first batter to cross 3,000 Test runs against India. Pope was dismissed for 44 in the final session, caught in the slips off a Jadeja delivery.

Brook, though, formless for much of the day, was clean bowled by Bumrah with a peach of a delivery. At the close of play, Root was 99* and Stokes 39*. For India, it has been a day to remember for Nitish Reddy (2/46), Jasprit Bumrah (1/35), and Ravindra Jadeja (1/26). With Root still out there and England at 251, the match remains in the balance.
