ICC Women’s World Cup 2025: India Crush Pakistan by 88 Runs . The Indian women’s cricket team has maintained its excellent form in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, defeating rivals Pakistan by 88 runs in Colombo at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

India posts a challenging total

India, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and quickly reached 247 all out in 50 overs. While no individual batter made the half-century mark, Harleen Deol (46), Smriti Mandhana (23), Pratika Rawal (31), and Richa Ghosh (35 off 20 balls)* helped put in a competitive total, getting India past the 240-run line before she was dismissed. Diana Baig (3/47) and Nida Dar (2/40) did well with the ball and kept India in check for the majority of their innings.

Pakistan’s Chase Ends Disappointingly

In pursuit of 248, Pakistan’s innings never really developed. The opener, Sidra Amin, kept the team alive with a fighting 81 not out off 106 balls, but little support came from the other end. None of the remaining batters crossed 20, as Pakistan were bundled out for 159 in 43 overs. India’s spin bowling pair, Deepti Sharma (3/45) and Kranti Gaud (3/20), both bowled with precision and discipline, dismantling Pakistan’s middle order.

The high-stakes encounter did not lack for drama. A contentious run-out of Muneeba Ali was a hot topic for conversation, and a brief infestation of bugs caused a break in play. In addition, the captains, Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana, dodged the pre-match handshake, souring the rivalry.
