ICC Unhappy With Pakistan Over T20 World Cup Stance For Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council is unhappy with the Pakistan Cricket Board over its uncertain T20 World Cup 2026 position. The ICC has clearly warned Pakistan against any move to pull out of the marquee tournament. The Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s hesitation follows Bangladesh’s removal after refusing to play matches in India. Scotland replaced Bangladesh after the ICC rejected venue relocation demands. Pakistan openly supported Bangladesh, which triggered concern within the ICC corridors. The ICC believes such public posturing threatens tournament stability and global cricket governance. Sources say the ICC has communicated strong consequences to the PCB leadership. Any withdrawal could result in severe cricketing and administrative sanctions.
Multiple Sanctions can be imposed
The first proposed sanction involves a complete freeze on bilateral cricket. Pakistan may not be allowed to play bilateral series against any international team. This would isolate Pakistan from the Future Tours Programme. The second major sanction concerns continental cricket. Pakistan could be barred from participating in upcoming Asia Cup tournaments. Such a move would hit Pakistan’s regional cricket influence heavily. The third blow targets the Pakistan Super League. Foreign players may be denied No Objection Certificates for PSL participation. This would significantly reduce PSL’s quality and commercial value.
The ICC sees these steps as deterrents rather than punishment. Officials want Pakistan to honour its World Cup commitments fully. The council stressed that global events cannot bend to political pressure. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated decisions depend on government directions. However, the PCB has not officially withdrawn from the tournament yet. Internal discussions are reportedly ongoing within Pakistan cricket circles.

Former cricketers have urged Pakistan to avoid further isolation. Experts warn sanctions could damage Pakistan’s cricket economy long-term. Fans fear the national team may suffer due to administrative disputes. With the World Cup nearing, pressure continues to mount on Pakistan. The ICC expects clarity soon to ensure smooth tournament operations. All eyes remain on Pakistan’s final call and cricket’s diplomatic balance.
