Harbhajan Singh, Nominated by the PCA, Could Enter the BCCI Administration. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh could be in line for a new turn with cricket administration after the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) nominated him as their representative for the upcoming BCCI Annual General Meeting on September 28, 2025.
The AGM will be important, as there will be elections for the president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer posts. Elections for the BCCI Apex Council and the Indian Premier League could take place. Along with Harbhajan, influential names will join in representing their respective state associations. These names include Sourav Ganguly (Cricket Association of Bengal), Rajeev Shukla (Uttar Pradesh), Arun Dhumal (Himachal Pradesh), Sanjay Naik (Mumbai), and Jaydev Shah (Saurashtra).
Harbhajan’s move into cricket administration
Harbhajan retired from international cricket with India in 2021. Prior to this, he had entered politics as a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. He had taken advisory positions in the governance of cricket at the state level. If he is elected to the BCCI, it could mark a step-change.
The nomination process for state representatives will close on September 12, and for office-bearers, September 20-21. Candidates will be able to withdraw until September 23. After that, members will vote in one ballot at the AGM.

It is unclear at this time if Harbhajan will seek one of the senior roles or just be viewed as Punjab’s representative. However, with his stature in cricket and political experience, the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup winner will likely be a strong candidate in the BCCI’s power hierarchy.
