Gautam Gambhir Credits KKR for Shaping His Leadership and India Coaching Role. India head coach Gautam Gambhir recently spoke about his deep connection with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He shared his thoughts during Trailblazers Conclave 4.0, held in Kolkata from March 14 to March 17. Gambhir said KKR played a huge role in shaping his leadership skills. He added that the franchise helped him grow as a captain and mentor.

Gambhir’s Successful Journey with KKR

According to Gambhir, his journey with KKR changed his thinking about leadership. He believes those experiences later helped him move into coaching roles. Gambhir also said the franchise indirectly opened the door for his India coaching role. He feels the lessons learned at KKR prepared him for bigger responsibilities. The former opener has a long history with the Kolkata franchise. He captained the team during one of its most successful periods.

Under Gambhir’s leadership, KKR won their first IPL title in 2012. They defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the final. Two years later, Gambhir guided the team to another title in 2014. Gambhir later returned to the franchise in a mentoring role. He helped guide the team to another IPL title in 2024. Many fans believe his leadership culture still influences the team today.
