BCCI Ends Partnership With Dream11

BCCI Ends Partnership With Dream11 After Online Gaming Ban. The BCCI has officially terminated its association with the fantasy sports platform Dream11, since the implementation of the Online Gaming Bill 2025 prohibits real money gaming and sponsorships associated with it.

Online gaming law forces an exit

Dream11 had signed a 3-year deal of ₹358 crores in jersey sponsorship in 2023, but left after the new law came into effect. Since the bill forbids money games online and promotional tie-ups, Dream11 could not have an association with Indian cricket. The agreement was ended by mutual agreement, and the good news for Dream11 is that under a regulatory safeguard clause, their letter of termination does not require them to pay damages for the remaining term with BCCI.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development, stating:
“If it’s not permissible, we won’t do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country. We will not indulge with such organizations in the future.”

The change of sponsor signals a significant change in the BCCI sponsorship policy, as they intend to move away from linkages to industries, which are the subject of legal contours.

Consequence before the Asia Cup

This happens just a few weeks before the Asia Cup 2025 starts on September 9 in the UAE, and it takes them to a place where the BCCI must now find a new jersey sponsor before this marquee tournament.

The conclusion of the Dream11 partnership illustrates how regulatory shifts may reshape the future of sports sponsorships in the country. Dream11 was once one of India’s most prominent sponsors of cricket, but its future is now uncertain under the new legislation. The BCCI would also like partners whose business models provide compatibility with the new regulatory environment.
