AUS vs IND 1st ODI Highlights: Australia Crush India By 7 Wickets via DLS in Perth. Australia commenced their ODI series against India in a commanding manner with a 7-wicket win (DLS method) in the rain-shortened first match at the Optus Stadium.
Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first on a gloomy day. After rain interrupted play, India was restricted to 26 overs for 136/9. The top three batsmen failed to fire on their returns when Rohit Sharma (8), Virat Kohli (0), and Shubman Gill (10) fell cheaply. KL Rahul (38 off 31) and Axar Patel (31 off 38) established a small resistance, while debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy added a late 19* to take the score higher.
Australia’s bowlers exploited the seam-friendly surface superbly. Josh Hazlewood (2/20), Mitchell Owen (2/20), and Matt Kuhnemann (2/26) shared the wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis contributed key breakthroughs.
Easy Chase for Kangaroos
Chasing a promotional target of 131 runs (DLS method), Australia produced a simple chase. They lost Matthew Short (8) and Josh Philippe (37) cheaply, but captain Mitchell Marsh handled affairs with an unbeaten 46 off 52 balls — a composed and powerful performance. Australia’s debutant Matt Renshaw also ended on an unbeaten score of 21 to lead the side home after 21.1 overs.
For India, it was a disappointing performance highlighted by a weak batting display and uninspired fielding. The defeat also took away an important milestone – Rohit Sharma’s 500th international appearance.
