Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh Begins Campaign With 7-Wicket Win Over Hong Kong. Bangladesh started off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with an emphatic 7-wicket victory against Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The tigers, led by new captain Litton Das, showed a convincing all-round performance that could prove crucial in Pool B.
Hong Kong won the toss and batted first. They managed to get 143 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Nizakat Khan (42 of 40), as captain of the team, built a solid score with some help from Zeeshan Ali (30) and Yasim Murtaza (28) before the innings flattened out at the end.
Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained a steady assault, taking regular wickets and conceding a few economical overs to halt Hong Kong’s efforts. In particular, Tanzim Hasan Sakib impressed with the ball, collecting 2 wickets for just 21 runs. Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain added 2 wickets each, limiting Hong Kong’s players towards the end of their innings.
Litton Das Leads the Chase
Chasing 144, Bangladesh had an early hiccup and lost two wickets quickly in the powerplay; however, captain Litton Das played an up-and-down 50 runs from 33 balls, scoring composed strokes evidently from aggressive intentions. Towhid Hridoy was steadier throughout the run chase and overall helped retain control at 144/3 with three overs remaining.
This win demonstrates Bangladesh’s increasing balance in both areas—their bowlers effectively restricted the Hong Kong batters, while their batting, despite early nerves, matured under pressure. Nizakat’s contributions were the highlight for Hong Kong, but a lack of acceleration and depth with the bat proved costly.
