Andre Russell To Retire from International Cricket After Sabina Park T20Is. West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has announced that he will retire from international cricket after playing a couple of T20 Internationals versus Australia. These two matches will be held at Sabina Park, Russell’s home ground in Kingston, on July 20 and 22, making the venue truly fitting for his send-off.
Russell, 37, has been one of the most destructive white-ball cricketers of his generation. He has played 84 T20Is for the West Indies, scoring 1,078 runs at a strike rate of more than 160. He has taken 61 wickets as well. Russell played 56 ODIs matches, scored 1,034 runs, and took 70 wickets. Russell played one Test match, but it was really in the short-format version where he had most of his success.
Russell has won two T20 World Cups (2012 and 2016). He was a huge part of this iconic team that dominated T20 cricket for nearly a decade. He was a match-winner on many occasions with pace, power, and experience across formats.
After the first two T20Is, Forde will be added to the West Indies squad for the final three T20Is of the series, which will be played in St. Kitts and Nevis. Russell will still be available for T20 franchise leagues around the world, including the IPL and MLC.
