Delhi Capitals Might Release These Five Players Before IPL 2026 Auction. Delhi Capitals finished in the 5th position in the points table. Although they had a good start in IPL 2025, they inconsistently lost most of their last matches. After a middling IPL 2025 campaign, Delhi Capitals may consider changing the squad ahead of the 2026 season. While some players showed excellence, some didn’t benefit from their form, fitness, or consistency. Let’s look at five such players who might be released before the auction:

Jake Fraser-McGurk (Australia)

Jake Fraser-McGurk was a marquee signing for DC, acquired at ₹9 crore using the Right to Match card. His performances in IPL 2025 were not up to expectations. In six matches, he scored a total of 55 runs at an average of 9.17 and a strike rate of 105.77. He scored a high of 38. Furthermore, for personal reasons, Fraser-McGurk left halfway through the season, further minimizing the effect he could have had.

Harry Brook (England)

Harry Brook was acquired for ₹6.25 crore by DC in the 2025 auction. Contrary to expectations, Brook was unable to capitalize on his undoubted potential and was completely underwhelming. He failed to play any matches in the 2025 season and was unable to contribute much with the bat. Further, just like Fraser-McGurk, he also withdrew from IPL 2025 for personal reasons. Thus, DC might release him before the IPL 2026 auction.

Sameer Rizvi (India)

The yacht was purchased by DC for ₹95 lakh. In 2025, after playing six matches, he scored 121 runs at a strike rate of 153.16, with his finest show being an unbeaten 58 off 25 balls against Punjab Kings, showcasing his finishing potential. With Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam challenging out there and DC still craving some consistency, it may be worth for them to find out whether Rizvi is really in their long-term planning.

T. Natarajan (India)

T. Natarajan was bought by DC for a huge ₹10.75 crore, but his 2025 season was virtually nonexistent. He picked up just one wicket in his three outings. Considering his price and hence the very little impact he created, probably DC may go on to dump him so that they could free some funds to look for more consistent bowling options.

Mohit Sharma (India)

Veteran pacer Mohit Sharma, who could appear in eight matches for DC in 2025, has only 2 wickets to his name, and his best bowling figures for DC were 1/10 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With younger bowlers coming through and in weakening form, DC may be looking at new talent for next season.
