ICC Corrects Virat Kohli’s No.1 ODI Reign, Confirms All-Time Rankings. The ICC has corrected the record of Virat Kohli as the world’s No. 1 ODI batter. The latest update confirms Kohli spent 1,547 days at the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings. Kohli first became the No.1 ODI batter in October 2013. He maintained the position across several years and multiple comeback phases.
The revised number makes Kohli the most successful Indian batter in ICC ODI rankings history. No other Indian batter has stayed No. 1 for so many days. In the all-time list, Kohli now ranks third overall. Only two West Indies legends sit above him. Former West Indies captain Viv Richards leads the list. Richards stayed No. 1 for an incredible 2,306 days.
Richards dominated ODI cricket during the late 1970s and 1980s. His aggressive style changed limited-overs batting forever. Second on the list is Brian Lara. Lara spent 2,079 days as the world’s top ODI batter. Lara’s reign came through consistency and match-winning centuries. He excelled against strong bowling attacks worldwide. Kohli follows closely with 1,547* days at No. 1.

Many of those centuries came in high-pressure chases. Fourth on the list is Australia’s great Michael Bevan. Bevan held the No. 1 ranking for 1,361 days. The ICC correction ensures accurate cricketing records. Kohli’s place among ODI greats remains unquestionable.
