Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023: Five Players To Watch Out For. Much-awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 will kick off on March 4 with an encounter between Gujarat Giants (GG) and Mumbai Indians (MI). There will be a total of 22 games in the inaugural edition of the WPL. The final of WPL 2023 will be played on March 26 at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.  Let’s have a look at the five players to watch out for in the upcoming WPL 2023.

Smriti Mandhana (RCB)

We can say RCB Captain Smriti Mandhana is the most valuable women’s cricket player in the world presently. She is the costliest player in the WPL auction so as in The Hundred draft. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) broke the bank to get services to the star left-hander.

The southpaw has scored 2802 runs in T20 internationals with a  healthy strike rate of 123.87. She hammered 22 half-centuries in T20Is. She is known as one of the best batters in the world.

Ellyse Perry (RCB)

Known as the Wonder Woman of cricket, Australian cricketer Ellyse Perry is known for her all-around cricket skills at the highest level. She is one of the most experienced players in the WPL 2023 with six T20 World Cup titles on her name.

Perry has amassed 1528 runs with an average of 31.18 and bagged 122 wickets in T20Is. Ellyse Perry signed by RCB for Rs. 1.7 crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore would hope Perry will help them to clinch their first title this year.

New Zealand player Amelia Kerr has made headlines with her spectacular performance in all formats of the game. She has scored 657 runs with an average of 23.46 and picked 58 wickets in T20Is.

Mumbai Indians bought this talented spin-bowling all-rounder for Rs. 1 crore. Mumbai is studded with world-class all-rounders like Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver Brunt, Hayley Matthews, and Pooja Vastrkar.

Ashleigh Gardner (GG)

Gardner can be tagged as one of the finest all-rounders in the world presently. The Aussie player is MVP for her team for the last few years. She has piled up 1147 runs and picked 52 wickets in T20Is. She was also the Player of the semi-final in the ongoing T20 World Cup for her sparkling all-round display.

Gujarat Giants (GG) signed her for whooping 3.20 crores. Giants will hope that the Australian all-rounder will play a pivotal role at the franchise.

Nat Sciver Brunt (MI)

English all-rounder Nat Sciver Brunt is known for her consistent performances. She racked up 2175 runs and snared 79 wickets in T20Is. Also, she was the second-highest run-scorer in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2023 followed by South African batsman Laura Wolvaardt.

Mumbai Indians signed her for a staggering 3.20 crores. They will expect that the star all-rounder will help them to win the trophy in the inaugural edition of WPL. She was selected as captain for ICC’s team of the tournament of the T20 World Cup 2023.
