The ICC has announced the match officials for the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand and Richard Illingworth from England will be the on-field umpires for the WTC final 2025.

The ICC also confirmed that another experienced English official, Richard Kettleborough, will be appointed as the TV umpire (third umpire) for the final. Calm and composed and with excellent decision-making skills, he will offer an additional layer of support to the on-field umpires.

Moreover, the appointments are yet another example of the ICC’s focus on experience and consistency regarding match officials for major events. All three umpires are well-experienced on the international circuit. They have officiated in multiple Test matches at the highest levels, even in past WTC cycles.
