Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 reached new heights following its successful mega auction, where five WPL franchises completed their rosters for the forthcoming season. There were 277 players listed in the auction pool, which included players from India and overseas. 67 players were bought to fill rosters for the Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and UP Warriorz.

Deepti Sharma, India’s star all-rounder, made headlines as she was purchased for ₹3.20 crore by the UP Warriorz via an RTM card, making her the highest valued player of this auction. The second-highest bid was for New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr for ₹3.00 crore. Strong bids were also received for a host of overseas stars, such as Sophie Devine and Annabel Sutherland.
The auction showcased diverse approaches from teams. Some opted to purchase high-profile international match-winners, whereas others chose to source uncapped emerging players. The Mumbai Indians provided depth and versatility to their roster, while the Gujarat Giants added quality through international all-rounders. Delhi Capitals continued their commitment to proven players, while Royal Challengers Bangalore improved their depth in both pace and spin. The UP Warriorz built their squad around the combination of Deepti Sharma and Meg Lanning.
