Suryakumar Yadav To Lead Team India In Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav has been officially appointed to lead the Indian team during the Asia Cup 2025, which will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28. This announcement marks the conclusion of weeks of speculation regarding Suryakumar’s fitness after his hernia surgery in June.
Suryakumar has been the one to spearhead India’s T20I revolution. Under his captaincy India has become more aggressive and fearless, including the record with a T20 international innings of 297 runs against Bangladesh last year. Following the retirement of Rohit Sharma from T20Is after the 2024 World Cup, Suryakumar was handed the captaincy. He has done exceedingly well with both his consistency and tactical precision.
Although he has gone through surgery, SKY has returned to full practice at the NCA in Bengaluru. There are expectations for him to regain full fitness before the start of the tournament. His form during the recent IPL 2025 season for the Mumbai Indians, in which he made 717 runs, showed that he still has plenty of class. He was the leading run scorer for a season for any MI batter.
Eight teams will participate in Asia Cup 2025, with India in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman. India are the defending champions, having won the title in 2023 and 2024.

If further fitness issues arise, vice-captain Axar Patel or veterans Hardik Pandya may be called up as replacements. But for now, the focus is completely on Suryakumar Yadav and his preparations to lead India into the most prestigious tournament in Asian cricket.
