Sourav Ganguly Set To Become New President Of Bengal Cricket Association. Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is set to return to cricket administration by becoming the next president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). This marks a significant development before the CAB Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for September 20.

Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav’s elder brother, currently holds the office. However, as per the Lodha Committee reforms that limit the tenure of an office bearer, Snehasish has exhausted his permissible term and must vacate the office. Hence, Sourav will be duly nominated for the same, which will take place sometime this week.

Reports suggest that CAB members have already pledged their support to the former BCCI president, signaling his return to the Bengal cricket body is practically unanimous. There appears to be no other serious contender; thus, Ganguly should expectedly be elected uncontested.

A Common Role for Dada

This will not be Ganguly’s first time as CAB president. He will also have previously held the role from 2015 to 2019 before taking on the President of the BCCI. Ganguly’s return as president is seen as a stabilizing one for Bengal cricket; strong leadership will ensure continuity at this juncture.

The coming AGM is expected to see reshuffles at other important positions, including secretary, vice-president, treasurer, and joint secretary. A few new faces are also likely to join the administration alongside Ganguly.
