Shreyas Iyer Set To Return In Asia Cup And Test Series vs West Indies. According to recent reports, Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is ready to return to the national side with good chances of making it to both the Asia Cup 2025 and the later home Test series against the West Indies. The 30-year-old last played a T20I in December 2023 and a Test in early 2024.

He had a fantastic IPL 2025 season with 604 runs in 17 matches. Iyer is back on the selectors’ radar for the T20 format. He led Punjab Kings to the final and had some match-winning innings during that time. Additionally, Iyer’s absence from the West Zone team for an upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025 appearance has been seen as a signal that he is being held back for the national side for the Asia Cup, which starts September 9 in the UAE.

On the red-ball side of things, Iyer is also being considered to join the two-match Test series against the West Indies starting on October 2. He is a strong middle-order presence and has Test match experience. This makes him a strong addition ahead of India’s desire for a consistent core in the lead-up to the WTC cycle.

Iyer is already confirmed for domestic cricket and was slated to play in the Duleep Trophy. If selected for India, he may miss it to prepare for national duties. BCCI selectors are likely to announce the squads by mid-August, and the Indian team’s names will almost certainly be includedin the squads for both formats.
