Shreyas Iyer Admitted To Sydney Hospital After Internal Bleeding From Rib Injury. Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been taken to a hospital in Sydney, as medical reports indicated there was some internal bleeding due to a rib cage injury sustained during the third ODI against Australia. The 30-year-old reportedly complained of significant pain and dizziness after the game and sought immediate medical attention from the team doctors.

As per hospital sources, Iyer sustained a blunt force injury in the left rib cage while diving to take a catch in the match at Sydney Cricket Ground. Although he was able to play through it, he felt more pain in the dressing room afterwards, which led to the scans revealing internal bleeding. He was then taken to Sydney Hospital ICU for further investigation and observation.

Condition and recovery update

The doctor stated that Iyer’s condition is stable but serious, and he may stay in the hospital for up to five to seven days for observation. The bleeding has stabilised, and medical staff will closely monitor vitals and bleeding for further complications. Sources at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said a decision regarding travel and return to India would be made once he is fit to travel.

This injury poses a significant challenge for India regarding their Test and limited-overs matches. Iyer, who has been an important middle-order batter and ODI vice-captain, will likely miss the next few weeks of action.
