Sanju Samson Request Exit From Rajasthan Royals Ahead of IPL 2026. Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson has requested the franchise to either trade him to a new franchise or let him go before IPL 2026. This is a major shock because Sanju is RR’s face and has been leading RR since 2021.
Reports suggest that there is some friction between Sanju and RR management in his batting position. Sanju wants to bat as an opener for RR, as he has done for India in T20Is, while RR already has strong openers in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. This potentially could have created frustration.
While Sanju has made the request, RR is not willing to lose him. He is still under contract for RR till 2027, and only RR can decide whether to trade or to release him. RR officials have said that Sanju is still an important player on their team.
There are also reports that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) may be interested in signing him, possibly as a future captain to replace MS Dhoni. However, a trade will be difficult because of Samson’s salary and CSK’s auction strategy.
