Karun Nair Hits Double Century for India A, Continues Stellar First-Class Form. Karun Nair’s resurgence in first-class cricket continued its upward trajectory when he scored an effortless double century—204 off 281 balls—on the second morning of India A’s match against England Lions at Canterbury. This fantastic knock, coming in a week before India’s Test series, which begins against the West Indies on June 20, is another reminder of Nair’s remarkable consistency and an appetite for big runs.
Nair, 33, has been in the form of his life since the start of the 2024-25 domestic season. He has scored nine centuries this season alone in domestic cricket: five in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, four in the Ranji Trophy, and three fifties in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also scored an excellent double hundred (202* off 253) for Glamorgan in the County Championship earlier this calendar year.

The latest two hundred is crucial for Nair, who made headlines for scoring an unbeaten 303 against England at Chennai in 2016 and has not had many opportunities at the Test level, playing three Tests since that innings. But, given his run-scoring exploits over the last year, he is making a strong case for the selectors, particularly with the upcoming Test series against England.
Karun’s innings were an exhibition of patience; he endured the new ball in overcast conditions and then took advantage of the spinners and the old ball. His support from the middle order let India A get on top of the game and a strong base.
