IPL 2025: RCB vs SRH Match Relocated to Lucknow Due to Persistent Rain in Bengaluru. Because of the harsh weather conditions, BCCI officially shifted the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, from its original venue of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on May 23.

Persistent heavy rains and thunderstorms through the past week have left roads in Bengaluru waterlogged, forcing disrupted daily life conditions. Interestingly, due to almost similar weather conditions, the previous home game of RCB against Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned without a ball being bowled on May 17.

The RCB, having already gained a top-two finish with 17 points from 12 matches, surely want to heighten the feeling of momentum as they go into the playoffs. But, SRH have already been ruled out of the playoffs race.

The Ekana stadium, Lucknow, will also host the last league match for Bangalore vs Lucknow on 27th May. Hence, RCB will play against the final league stage away from their home ground, a decision that has disappointed the fans who were looking forward to the home send-off for Virat Kohli after his Test retirement.

The IPL 2025 organisers stressed that this change of venue was a necessity to ensure the match is played without any weather interruptions and also ensure player safety. The match will be held on its original date and time, taking place on May 23 at 7:30 PM IST.
