IND vs NZ: Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi Added to T20I Squad, Tilak Varma and Sundar Ruled Out. India has made key changes to their T20I squad for the New Zealand series. The selection committee added Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi to the team. All-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out due to injury.

Shreyas Iyer has been included for the first three T20I matches only. He replaces Tilak Varma, who is currently out with an injury. Tilak picked up an abdominal strain earlier this month. The medical team advised him to rest before returning to action. Iyer’s return boosts India’s middle-order experience. He has played 49 T20I matches for India so far. Iyer has scored 1,043 runs in T20Is at an average of nearly 31. He has hit six half-centuries in the shortest format. Iyer also brings leadership experience from IPL and domestic cricket.

Ravi Bishnoi was added after Washington Sundar’s injury setback. Sundar suffered a side strain while bowling recently. He will now report to the BCCI medical staff for rehabilitation. His absence weakens India’s spin-all-round options slightly. Bishnoi strengthens India’s bowling attack in T20 conditions. He has taken 61 wickets in 32 T20I matches. His economy rate stays under 7.50 in international cricket. Bishnoi is known for pace, accuracy, and sharp googlies.

India’s T20I squad now looks balanced and flexible. The team has strong batting depth and varied bowling options. These changes also help India manage player workload. The series is important ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The New Zealand series begins later this month. India will aim to test combinations and build winning momentum.
