IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah Becomes First Indian To Take Most Five-Wicket Hauls In Away Tests. Jasprit Bumrah breaks Kapil Dev’s record for most five-wicket hauls in away Tests. He reached that milestone during the third Test against England at Lord’s when he took the terrific figures of 5/74 in the first innings.
Bumrah Surpasses Kapil Dev’s Long-Standing Record
With this achievement, Bumrah now has 13 five-wicket hauls in away tests, which exceeds the previous record held by the legendary Kapil Dev’s 12 five-wicket hauls in his 66 overseas games. Bumrah’s reliability and ability to perform in tough and foreign conditions put him in a class beyond all others. Also, Bumrah has done all this in only 35 away Tests—what a record of efficiency and impact across formats and continents!
The 30-year-old fast bowler tied Wasim Akram’s record of 11 five-wicket hauls in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia)—the most by any Asian bowler in SENA. Bumrah has also gone past other Indian greats like Zaheer Khan (8) and Ishant Sharma (9) in five-wicket hauls in games outside India.
Bumrah’s showing at Lord’s gave him a space on the now-famed Honours Board, and he is now amongst the best and spoken about as one of the best in the game. His accuracy, calm temperament, and ability to move the ball both ways make him a batsman’s nightmare, especially in conditions conducive to swing and seam.
