IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 2 Highlights: Bumrah’s Record Fifer, India 145/3 At Stumps. Day 2 of the third Test at Lord’s was fiercely contested as Jasprit Bumrah’s fifer brought India back in the contest, having seen Joe Root lead England’s charge to a decent total with his century.
England began again at 302/5 and was all out for 387. Root extended his overnight score and netted his 37th Test century as Bumrah struck. Bumrah’s wicket was the turning point for India to shift back onto the front foot after taking Ben Stokes and Root in succession, before ending with 5/75 overall, having damaged England’s tail. India was back in the game.
Root also had another reason to celebrate, as he eclipsed Rahul Dravid’s record for the most catches in the history of Test cricket. He surpassed Dravid with catch number 211; his sharp catch to dismiss Karun Nair was worthy of the moment.
India’s reply was cautious. Jofra Archer removed Yashasvi Jaiswal cheaply to expose the Indian top order, but KL Rahul and Karun Nair both chimed in with half-centuries and brought India to 145/3 at the close of day 2, still trailing by 242. Rishabh Pant, who had some trouble with a finger injury, scored a fighting 19, falling late in the day.
